Year 6

The Machine Project

A huge thank you to Grandad Bob, for all his engineering experience and support in the Year 6 Machine Building Project.  Finally all of the imaginative ideas have been combined to make the 'Fruit Picker 3000'  Well done Year 6 and again many thanks to Grandad Bob.

The Arch Project  Steve Tomlinson (local artist) came into school today to work with year 6 on the arch project.  This involves designing a metallic plate, based on World War One, and incorporating this into the arch structure in Crawcrook Park.

Well done Megan and Robert.  Fantastic biography writing task this week.


Year 6 have been designing and running a French Cafe this morning.  They have prepared a variety of foods and served customers.  This has enabled the children to use their French Vocabulary.

Father James came into Year 6 last Wednesday to talk about the priesthood.  It was a really useful afternoon as children in Year 6 are preparing a written task about Ordination.   He was as friendly and funny as ever with some great additional stories for our children.

Welcome to Dementia Friends

Year 6 have had Dementia Training this morning. Today we learned that dementia is a serious situation that usually occurs in older aged people.

We did two interesting activites about how hard it is to cope with dementia. At the end of the session, we had a chance to become a dementia friend and got a badge to show that we cared.

Year 6 perform some of their basketball skills. ' Not only did we develop our dribble and control skills, we were also told about the importance of diet; making healthy food choices.'   ' We had a great afternoon and look forward to our next visit from the squad.'
