'Impeccable! Loved the bouncy castle.'

'It couldn't have been better.'

'I thought the disco bounce was brilliant, I really enjoyed it.'

Sedimentary Sandwiches

As part of our Science unit on Rocks we have been learning about how sedimentary rocks are formed and demonstrating this using different foods to represent layers.

RSPB's Schools' Birdwatch

This week we have been learning all about the birds we could find in our gardens.  We did a lot of research, made bird feeders, pocket books and bird food.  We also took time to look out with our binoculars to see what activity there was around our feeders. Unfortunately we did not see many birds this week but we hope that over the holiday they will be attracted to all the lovely food we put out for them and the garden will be alive with various bird species when we come back.

Although we haven't seen any small birds on our feeders we have seen many jackdaws, crows and blackbirds eating the fat balls that we made.  It has been great watching them peck away at the food.

Visit to the Great North Museum

We visited the Great North Museum to find out more about our topics.  The day began with a look around the museum then we took part in a workshop to learn more about Rocks.  We found out about how rocks are formed and took a closer look at the different types of rocks.

After the workshop we went into the Ice Age to Iron Age gallery to carry out different activities to further our learning about the Stone Age.

Willow Planting

Over the last two Thursday afternoons Year 3 have been working on our outdoor area to provide shelter from the wind and shade on those hot sunny days. The children worked in two groups to plant willow fences outside the classroom with the help of Jack.  They had a great time and are looking forward to watching their work blossom over the next few weeks.
