Act justly, love tenderly, walk humbly with your God

Forest School 2022

Year 1 and Year 5 had their first forest school session, today.  They made jewellry, built dens, balanced on low ropes and decorated wooden logs.  The children were amazing and were incredibly engaged.  Let us hope that the sun is shining again, next week.

We supplement the formal curriculum with a rich and varied range of experiences which come together to supplement the children's education. We offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs,  run by either school staff or outside providers, giving children the chance to try a range of different activities and mix socially with others. We have special theme days eg. French day or cross-curricular weeks, eg. Health Week,  which give special focus to different areas or celebrate world or national events. Specialist teachers and Sports Coaches visit frequently to enhance the children's knowledge and skills.  As part of the local Sports Partnership with our feeder secondary school, St Thomas More, there are many opportunities for children to compete in tournaments for a variety of sports.

We endeavour to take learning outside of the school grounds, taking advantage of the wonderful variety of opportunities provided by our local area, making use of our recently-acquired minibuses as often as possible. The children are also given the opportunity of spending a few days learning away from home on residential during their time at St Agnes', such as the outdoor activities in the Lake District.
Each year, children will have the opportunity to take part in productions or help to lead Acts of Worship for other members of the community.  Children are also encouraged to take on various roles and responsibilities both in and out of the classroom. eg. acting as monitors, lunchtime Office Helpers, Sports Leaders, Playground Buddies, School Councillors or Year 6 Special Friends to Reception Class.

Some of our Y2, Y4 and Y5 children had a sponsored sleepover in the Holy Spirit Church hall on Friday 6th December.  They slept in a cardboard box and wanted to raise awareness of the homeless situation we have in the north east on England.  So far they have raised £600.  We are so proud of their selfless efforts.
